Pat's Weekly Diary - June 17th, 2013
Only three gigs this week. Treasure Chest on Thursday night. It’s been a while. We used to play there regularly… for many years. But it’s been a while… maybe two years. We were starting to wonder if they would ever call us back again. Fortunately they did. I’m sorta reminded of… there’s an episode of Saturday Night Live from 1975 (I Googled it) Paul Simon is the host and Art Garfunkel is the musical guest. They had been broken up for a few years and this would be their first time performing together again. At one point Paul is on stage and he introduces Art to thundering applause. After the applause dies down Paul says “So… Artie… you’ve come crawling back.” And then they go on to sing “The Boxer”. I thought of that on Thursday night. Go’head and Google it yourself. Being back at the Treasure Chest was fantastic. There was just a great crowd of people… thank you very much. I love playing there myself because we tend to play a lot of oldies there. Songs we don’t play too often. I like that. We look forward to returning there in July. Rock n’ bowl on Friday was just a great crowd. Perhaps we should thank the Dominican Class of ’83 for holding their 30 year reunion there. Certainly it helped fill the place up. The good thing is most of them stayed ‘til the end. We played a wedding on Saturday at Southern Oaks. It’s been some time since last we played there. A guy came up at the end of the night and told us “You know it’s a good band that can get a crowd of people at a ‘non-alcohol, Baptist wedding’ up and dancing”. Thank you very much. And thanks to the staff at Southern Oaks. As usual they treat us fantastic. We’re off now with the exception of starting to prepare for Beatlefest 2013, and we’ll see you at Hi Tides on Friday.
to be continued...
